Which wood boiler model best fits my needs?
Depending on the area size being heated and the type of space you need to heat, Royall offers indoor wood boilers for almost any application. For heating an area up to 1,500 square feet the 6100 boiler would be recommended. If you're heating an area of 900 to 2,000 sauare feet the 6130 would be the best choice. A heating area of between 1,000 and 3,000 square feet would be best served by the 6150 furnace. For larger areas from 3,000 to 4,000 square feet the 6200 boiler would a great choice. A larger area of 4,000 to 6,000 square feet would require our 6300 boiler. Our huge 6490 boiler will evenly heat 6,000 to 10,000 square feet of space with no problem. Outdoor models utilize the same great boiler wrapped in insulation and enclosed within a shelter.

• Are the controls on a Royall boiler complicated?
Absolutely not, Royall utilizes boiler controls that are tried and true in the boiler industry.

• How long will my Royall wood boiler last?
With proper maintenance, your Royall wood boiler will heat your home or office comfortably for 20 to 30 years at a minimum.

• How often will I need to fill the Royall boiler?
Depending on the type of wood you use in your Royall wood boiler will dictate the amount of times required to re-fill the boiler. Typically, you will refill the boiler twice a day in colder weather. Sometimes a little more depending upon the type and dryness of the wood.

• Can I install a Royall boiler if I live in town?
Royall indoor wood boilers are a perfect fit for those close confined areas. Consider the height of the smokestack and always remember to comply with all state and local codes.

• How often do I need to clean out ashes?
Ash removal is extremely easy with the included ash pan. The wood boiler is built with a separate ash access door for your safety while removing the ash when the unit is operating. It is important to clean out your ashes on at least a weekly basis. The ash pan should be emptied as needed, letting the ash buildup will eventually promote grate failure due to the excessive heating. At the end of the heating season, it is very important to clean out any ash deposits from the fire box. Cover the chimney when not in use in order to prevent moisture entering into this area. Moisture mixed with ash can create damage to the wood furnace.

•What Settings Should I Use For The Aquastat?
We recommend setting the aquastat to the following Settings, 180° with a 20° differential. This tells the boiler, if it's internal temperature is below 160°, run the draft inducer fan until the internal heat is raised to 180°. At 180° the draft inducer fan will turn off until the internal temperature falls back to 160°. You can modify these settings slightly depending upon your specific requirements. However, attempting to burn wood at a lower temperature range can lead to creosote buildup.

• What about emissions in the Royall boiler?
Some states and local agencies have put into place requirements on outdoor wood fired boilers. Please check with your state or local officials for requirements on outdoor wood boilers in your area.

• What is creosote and how can I reduce it?
When wood is burned slowly, it produces tar and other organic vapors, which combine with expelled moisture to form a nasty product referred to as creosote. The creosote vapors condense in the relatively cool chimney flue of a slow burning fire. As a result, creosote residue accumulates on the flue lining. When ignited, this creosote makes a hot fire. The chimney connector and chimney should be inspected at least weekly by you to ensure everything is working correctly, and yearly by a professional to ensure proper operation and safety. If creosote has accumulated it should be removed to reduce the risk of a chimney fire. In the case of a chimney fire, Royall is not liable for damages to the boiler or your personal property.
